Post 16 Studies - A Level Courses

A Level Courses

Bramdean is a recognised and registered centre for OCR, Edexcel, AQA and the University of Cambridge suite of qualifications.
In some subjects, students may follow the Cambridge University International GCE. In addition Bramdean is registered to offer the STEP university entrance tests.

Pupils are encouraged to extend their studies beyond the traditional choice of three A levels.

Following recent changes to the examination system subjects are offered at AS level and/or at A2 level. The qualifications are no longer linked and a candidate need not sit the AS level qualification in order to obtain the complete A2 or full A Level. A candidate must sit the examinations for all the units/papers for whichever level they are undertaking in the final year of study.

An AS level is designed to be undertaken as a one-year course.

An A2 level will be studied over two years and examined in the final year.

A few subjects are not changing syllabus to the new format until September 2017 and these will be examined in the most recent format of an AS level leading to A2 level in the second year. In this format the candidate will sit the units/papers which lead to the AS in the first year and only the additional units/papers required to complete the course to A2 level in the second.
